Job Summary:
As Country Manager – Payments & Partnerships, you will lead Daraz Pakistan’s payments strategy and ecosystem growth, ensuring a seamless and trusted customer payment experience. This role requires a forward-thinking leader who can drive prepayment adoption, build high-impact partnerships, and foster innovation in payment solutions tailored to the Pakistani market. You will also play a key role in aligning local execution with Daraz and Alibaba’s regional and global strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Payments Strategy & Growth
- Design and execute strategies to drive prepayment adoption and grow the share of prepaid transactions across Daraz Pakistan.
- Ensure the customer payment journey is frictionless, inclusive, and accessible across all Daraz touchpoints.
Partnerships & Ecosystem Development
- Build and strengthen partnerships with banks, telcos, digital wallet providers, fintechs, and regulators to advance Pakistan’s payments ecosystem.
- Negotiate and manage strategic partnerships that unlock growth opportunities for Daraz Payments & Financial Services.
- Leverage Alibaba Group’s expertise and global best practices to accelerate innovation and adoption.
Payment Innovation & Integration
- Champion the adoption of new and emerging payment methods, including digital wallets, QR payments, card schemes, and instant transfers.
- Oversee seamless integration of new solutions, ensuring compliance, security, and scalability.
Campaigns & Customer Engagement
- Collaborate with marketing teams and partners to launch high-impact campaigns that promote prepaid transactions and customer engagement.
- Design customer-centric incentives and promotions with partners to drive uptake.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Work closely with marketing, operations, finance, and tech teams to deliver against payments and partnership goals.
- Represent Pakistan in regional/global forums, ensuring alignment with Daraz and Alibaba’s broader vision.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 7+ years of proven experience in payments, banking, fintech, or e-commerce, with a strong track record in partnership management.
- In-depth understanding of Pakistan’s financial and regulatory landscape.
- Demonstrated success in ecosystem-building, strategic partnerships, and business development.
- Strong analytical, forecasting, and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to engage C-level stakeholders, regulators, and partners.
