Assistant Manager - Legal

Job Description 

Daraz Bangladesh Limited is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join its dynamic legal team. As a team member, you will play a crucial role in providing expert legal advice and support to the organization, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and safeguarding the company's best interests. Responsibilities:

1. Review and draft strategic and high-value contracts, conducting efficient and effective negotiations with counterparties while ensuring contracts comply with legal requirements, company policy, industry standards and protects the company's best interests.
2. Provide expert legal advice and guidance on various legal matters such as IPR infringement, Labour Issues, Fin-Tech matters, etc. to different departments and management. Analyze and review legal issues, agreements, and documents to identify potential risks and provide advisory opinion for the management to take informed decisions.
3. Responsible to oversee the company's intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents. Prepare reports on the status of company’s intellectual property and take necessary actions to facilitate registration or objection process as and when instructed.
4. Provide support to the other functional department in ensuring compliance with laws and regulations and assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures.
5. Provide advisory opinion on employee contracts, disputes, and related legal issues.
6. Review existing laws, regulations, and policies related to e-commerce, and provide observations and recommendations to government and regulatory bodies as and when required and requested to create a business-friendly environment for the industry.
7. Draft legal notices, show cause notices, and other ancillary letters, and prepare responses to legal issues to resolve matters without resorting to court proceedings.

Requirements:

• LLM/LLB graduates from a reputed university (Barrister-at-law preferred).
• At least 4 years of working experience at a reputed law firm (experience in working as an in house counsel will be an added advantage).
• Ability to understand the e-commerce marketplace business, its strategies, its people and its organizational structures.
• Experience in drafting and reviewing general commercial contracts.
• Awareness of legal and commercial risks and the ability to establish means for managing such risks consistent with business objectives.
• Well organized individual with a meticulous eye for detail and critical analyzing skills
• Ability to interact confidently with members of the organization at different levels.
• Team player, solution-oriented, keen learner, with a passion for an in-house legal career.
• Willingness to work proactively and independently.
• Excellent communication skills in English and Bengali, both verbal and written.
• Solid interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity are critical requirements.
• Adequate knowledge in applicable laws, regulations, guidelines etc. of Bangladesh.
